Volo Boston FAQ
Your Questions, Answered
We run leagues across Boston in kickball, soccer, volleyball (sand and indoor), softball, basketball, pickleball, flag football, dodgeball, bocce, and cornhole. Tournaments, drop-in nights, and one-day events run year-round.
Our leagues run across the city's most active neighborhoods, including the South Boston, Allston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Seaport. Specific venues are listed on our website!
Sign up solo, with a friend, or as a full team. A lot of our Boston players sign up individually and get placed on teams with other free agents. It's one of the easiest ways to meet people in the city.
Yes, and it's one of the main reasons people sign up. Boston is famously hard to break into socially once you're past the college years. Volo gives you a built-in weekly hangout with the same crew, post-game meetups at neighborhood bars, and season-long social events.
Most Boston leagues run between $95 and $155 per player depending on sport, format, and season length. Drop-in pickleball and cornhole nights start lower. One upfront cost, no recurring fees.
A standard season runs 6 to 8 weeks, including a playoff or tournament at the end. Games are 45 minutes to one hour, mostly weekday evenings with some weekend leagues.
Nope. Our leagues are recreational and built for adults who want to have fun, not relive their varsity years. Beginners are genuinely welcome. When you sign up, flag your skill level so we place you in the right division.
That's exactly why winter is one of our biggest seasons. We move into indoor venues across the city for volleyball, basketball, soccer, dodgeball, and kickball, so the social rhythm doesn't stop when the weather turns.
Volo Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization on a mission to build communities of active, resilient, and confident kids through free, quality sports programs across the country. Check out volokids.org to learn more. Volo and Volo Kids share two things in common: Their founder, Giovanni Marcantoni, and the shared belief in the power and importance of play in bringing communities together. Every time you, as a player, register for a program with Volo, you make it possible for Volo to support the Volo Kids Foundation! Volo helps cover the core costs of operating Volo Kids, so that additional funds raised through things like grants and events go directly into program costs, like player shirts, volunteer background checks, and safe equipment.
Team shirts will be onsite on the first day of your league!
Volo Kids relies on dedicated volunteers to make our free programs possible. In recognition of the volunteers' support, Volo is pleased to offer perks, including a free Volo sports league registration and a Volo Pass discount each season. To qualify, volunteers must attend at least 80% of their program’s sessions. Sign up to volunteer at volokids.org.
